What is the EPI score given to your country? 62.2
How does this compare with other countries? It is ranked 67th out of 163 countries
Which environmental issues are the biggest concern for your country?
Current Issues---
Ecosystem Ozone, CO2 Emissions Per Electricity generation, Trawling Intensity, Outdoor air Pollution, Non methane volatile organic compound emissions, Marine protection, Sulfer dioxide emissions, Wate rstress index,
Nitrogen oxides emissions, Air pollution(effects on ecosystem), Industrial greenhouse gas emissions intensity, Climate change, Ecosystem vitality, Environmental burden of disease, Air pollution(effects on humans),
Environmental health, Fisheries
Summary---
Thailand now faces many environmental problems like air pollution and the three major sources of air pollution are vehicular emissions in cities, biomass burning and transboundary haze in rural and border areas and last industrial discharges in concentrated industrialized zones.
Recent air quality data suggest that particulate matter < 10 µm in aerodynamic diameter (PM10) is the most important air pollutant in urban and rural areas. In cities such as Bangkok, air quality monitoring performed by the Pollution Control Department (PCD) for the past 10 years revealed that the levels of PM10 have exceeded both annual (50 µg/m3) and 24-hr (120 µg/m3) national standards (PCD 2010). Thailand not only provides the necessary perspective for policy development but contributes to the larger body of knowledge in environmental health.
What percentage of the GDP is spent on education? 4.1%.
How does this compare with the rest of the world? 102.
What percentage of the population is literate? 92.6%.
Is there a major difference in rates of literacy between males and females? Sort of, 94.9% for males and 90.5% for females.
